At Crossroads, we understand that our children are our youngest disciples and therefore it is important to us that we help them grow in Christ and make a space for them to worship God in ways that speak to their age group. With this in mind, during part of the service each week, our children leave the adults to have a separate time for children's worship. In that time, they pray, hear from Scripture, and worship God through song, artwork, journaling, and other ways.
Each week, we begin our time together by sitting or kneeling in front of the altar in the children's worship space and lighting the Christ candle, reminding the children that Christ is always present with them during church service and throughout the week. Then we sing "Be Still and Know that I am God", helping the children to quiet their minds and bodies so they can be in a space of listening to God. We then say a modified creed and confession together, pray together, hear from Scripture, and enter into our work/worship time. Like our church service, children's worship has a liturgical rhythm to it, which sets them up well for when they later join the adults for service.
Because we do believe that it is important that the children and adults of Crossroads be together, the children do participate in parts of the service every week. Also every third week of the month, the children join the adults for the entire service and listen to an interactive sermon that day.
Fall 2013. Come join us this Fall. From September through Epiphany, we'll be helping the children understand the sweeping story of Scripture from the creation of the world to the call of Israel to Jesus to New Creation.
Looking for a Children's Worship Leader for Fall 2013 or Winter 2014
While we have had a wonderful time with the children this past Winter and Spring, we realize our children would be blessed by a worship leader who could be with them most weeks and would work with a team of folks to lead their worship time together. If you love children and desire to deepen their faith in Christ and provide them with opportunities to encounter God, consider joining our leadership team for 2013/2014.
